Take a stand, make a difference!
Sustainable energy plays a crucial role in fostering environmentally responsible practices, and it involves more than just relying on renewable energy sources. Below, you’ll find practical suggestions to help you integrate these actions into your daily life and promote sustainable energy consumption, either individually or as a community.
What can I do?
Quick & Go activities
- Analyse your own energy consumption using one of the apps provided here on the platform. There are many simple things you can do to reduce your energy consumption such as unplug your phone when it is fully charged and take the charging cable out of the socket.
- Check your freezer and fridge temperature. Are they set to the right temperatures? The fridge should be set at 4C and the freezer at –18ºC
- Wash at cold or up to 30ºC and use the eco mode.
Deep but swift activities
- Invest in a tiny solar charged powerbank to charge your own phone for example. You can use this device when you are on holiday or when you are out and about for the day.
- Cut down on standby consumption through installing power strips, on-off plugs or smart plugs!
The hardest, the best activities
- Look at your own energy provider. How much do they claim to get from renewable resources and is it possible to switch to a more sustainable energy provider?
What can I do with my community?
Quick & Go activities
- Look at some of the political parties in your country. Can you find political candidates that promote the transition to sustainable energies?
Deep but swift activities
- Many towns have initiatives and subsidies available for citizens who want to become more sustainable. In some cases, they also provide information evenings and give out free tools such as on-off plugs that can support you and your neighbours in becoming more sustainable. Find out if your local town has such an initiative in place.
The hardest, the best activities
- Start or join a local energy cooperative or initiative.
