Sustainable Food Consumption
About Lesson

How are food and climate change connected?

Climate change is strongly linked to the consumption and production of food because many greenhouse gases are produced in small-scale processes. However, not all foods are equally harmful in their production – meat, however, is among the foods whose production requires more resourses and has the greatest impact on the greenhouse gases,  but is still consumed in large quantities all over the world.

In addition, agricultural land is often used to grow food for animals. This requires a lot of land that could also be used directly to produce food for humans. By not raising and slaughtering animals, greenhouse gases could be locked up.
