The DIE UMWELTBERATUNG (an Austrian eco-counseling) has developed the energie-führerschein seminar, a training programme for adults (in adult education), young people in training, or for staff training in companies. The energie-führerschein is a certificate for energy-saving behaviour in everyday life and work, not only allowing to save money but also contributing to climate protection. The contents are presented in a lively and practical manner so that is easy to put them into practice:

  • Basics of energy – important energy terms, forms of energy, and energy conversion.
  • Energy consumption at home, during leisure time, and at work
  • Ecological effects of energy consumption
  • Ways of using energy sparingly in everyday life
  • Climate protection and renewable energies
  • Energy-saving mobility

It is possible to download all of them as the Training Manual in German here.

Food waste is one of the biggest problems of our society and it is estimated that 30% of food is wasted at each meal. Organic waste is 23% of the total municipal waste produced in the municipality of Porto, Portugal. Thus, the municipality believes it is essential to perform its recovery and to actively contribute to environmental sustainability. LIPOR – Association of Municipalities for the Sustainable Management of Waste of Greater Porto, and Porto municipality are working together to develop the project “Orgânico”.

This project provides a free kit to separate organic waste. After separating it, the user goes to one of the new brown containers installed next to the eco-points in his/her area of residence and deposits the waste. Then, the waste will be submitted to an organic valorisation process, composting, resulting in 100% natural compost that can be used as fertiliser in organic farming.
