What is GreenerAge?

OBJECTIVES
The GreenerAge project aims to bring benefits to organisations, cities, regions, and ultimately citizens across Europe, through the impact of its results that will span across five countries and cultures and in six languages, with different citizen testimonials and perspectives.
Its main objectives are:
ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE
DIGITAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
BRIDGING INTERCULTURAL, INTERGENERATIONAL DIVIDE
Increasing environmental skills of citizens 55+ through informal gamified learning strategies and tools, co-developing a compendium of knowledge and practices that promote changing behaviour and values necessary to achieve a carbon-neutral society.
Promote future sustainability and uptake of GreenerAge tools and materials, by developing a set of recommendations for adult trainers, policy makers and relevant organisations.
Broadening access to knowledge and user-friendly tools, co-developed with the target groups to create a step-change in environmental literacy via the usage of a new inclusive digital gamification platform.
Increasing capacity and inclusivity of adult educators to provide low-threshold and highly adaptable training of environmentally-friendly practices through the development of an inclusive gamified training toolkit adjustable to online, face to face and blended training, bridging the intergenerational digital and climate literacy divide.

Target Groups
ADULTS 55+
Society in general can benefit from using the educational platform and all the Project Results to improve their awareness and literacy of environmental and climate change issues (while also enhancing their digital skills). However, the main target group of GreenerAge are adults 55+ who will be informed and empowered to “go greener” on their habits, lifestyles, and consumption patterns.
POLICY MAKERS
At all levels, but especially at city level, namely in municipalities, regional authorities, health departments, etc. Also, EU policy makers and organisations will be engaged and can be mobilised to support the adoption and upscale of the GreenerAge platform and all the PR material, with reach at national/European level also.
COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS
We will primarily target organisations focused on environment and fighting climate change, ageing population and adult education. Moreover, we will also collaborate with organisations connected to digital literacy, smart cities, healthy cities, training, and research related to any of the relevant topics. Among these organisations, several European networks will be engaged through the existing partners of the consortium members, with reach and multiplier effects also at national/European level.
LOCAL OR SPECIALISED PRESS AND MEDIA
The media channels will also be considered target groups for dissemination purposes, which can multiply at national/European level the GreenerAge results and tools.

Outputs
Four project results will be successively elaborated during the project. Combined they form the complete interactive learning platform that will be available on its completion:
PR1: 55+ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE LITERACY COMPENDIUM
The consortium will co-develop an environment and climate change compendium and tools with experts and citizens, including interviews and testimonials across the five partner countries. Based on the inputs collected, we will create a concerted approach of environmental and digital literacy needs and gaps for adults 55+.
PR2: 55+DIGITAL GAMIFICATION LEARNING PLATFORM ‘GREENERAGE’
An inclusive and interactive (gamified) learning platform to enhance digital and environmental literacy will be developed. We will co-create with stakeholders a simple and attractive interface that combines the compendium, tools and training contents and proven gamification strategies to promote greener behaviours.
PR3: 55+ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE LITERACY TRAINER MANUAL
With the compendium and digital gaming platform being done, the consortium will develop a trainer manual with background knowledge and workshop concepts for the materials, as well as a guide for adult educators to allow for training sessions in presence and online.
PR4: GREENERAGE POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS
A set of policy recommendations will be addressed to the EU, relevant organisations, and local policy makers, with guidelines for action, background knowledge and further data for using the full training and learning toolkit at scale.
